Carlson has performed general contracting services for 12 LA Fitness Clubs. The approximately 38,000 square foot buildings are constructed utilizing precast concrete wall panels, structural steel columns, columns and decking along with masonry, steel and architectural elements to bring a specific high quality branding to the facility along with the fast track schedule aspects of the projects. The interior components of the building include full size basketball courts, 25 meter 3 lane lap pool, therapeutic spa, specialty fitness rooms, juice bar, full size locker rooms, child care areas and extensive resistance and cardio training areas along with member and support services areas.

The interior finishes are designed to brand LA as a leader in member fitness facilities and has specific surfaces defining the experiences and performance for each area of the club for the walls, floors and ceilings as well as extensive graphics. These include porcelain tile, performance wood and rubber flooring, resilient and carpet flooring. Extensive tile is utilized on the wall finishes along with laminates and vinyl graphics.

The gas fired forced air mechanical systems are designed to create efficient, healthy as well as functional environmental conditions. The Pool area utilizes a special humidity controlling HVAC system with digital controls to ensure a proper balance with the remainder of the club. The clubs also utilize complex electrical, lighting and low voltage systems through out to minimize energy usage; maximize the quality of the multi-media video and audio distribution and the control of all aspects of the facility.

The site work for the projects include storm water pollution prevention, mass grading, wet and dry utilities, storm water management system, site concrete walks and curbs, asphalt roadway construction, lighting, monument signs and extensive landscaping.

Carlson works with the national account vendors specific to LA Fitness to ensure that the proper materials for the specific prototype building is ordered and delivered and ready to install.
